Greymouth – supporting the Grey District
Hokitika– supporting Hokitika and the wider Westland District

Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi | About this role
We’re recruiting Engagement Coordinators to support the delivery of WestREAP’s Attendance Service in both
Greymouth (covering Grey District) and Westland (covering Hokitika / wider Westland District). You’ll work
with the Team Leader Attendance & Schools, based in either our Blaketown office or our main office in
Hokitika.
The Attendance & Schools team functions in reducing barriers to attendance and improving engagement
across schools in the West Coast region. You will be the boots on the ground, liaising closely with ākonga, their whānau, and kura, and coordinating wraparound support with social services. Your work will reflect
WestREAP’s values of Manaakitanga, Accessibility, Inclusivity, Empowerment, and Responsiveness. As the role is across schools, hours will be term-time only, although we can consider “smooth” (annualised) pay. Hours are part-time and flexible, and we encourage all to apply.

Ngā tūranga mahi | What you’ll do

• Work closely with schools to understand attendance concerns and agree clear next steps
• Support whānau to navigate barriers (e.g., routines, wellbeing, confidence, connection to supports)
• Advocate for students and whānau, coordinating with relevant agencies and community providers
when additional wraparound support is needed (such as Work & Income, CAMHS, and Oranga
Tamariki)
• Maintain clear, accurate case notes and contribute to service reporting
• Travel within your region to schools and whānau (work vehicle provided)
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
You’re warm, grounded, and able to engage with people from all walks of life. You follow through, you
communicate well, and you can hold boundaries while staying human.

We’re looking for someone with:
• A full driver licence (required)
• Experience in community engagement, youth support, education support, social services, or similar
• Passion to deliver a necessary service to vulnerable ākonga (students)
• A strong “follow-through” approach to ensure ngā kiritaki (the clients) receive the support promised
• Confidence working independently, with good judgement and reliable admin habits
• An understanding of CRM systems, with prior experience in Salesforce a bonus.
• An understanding of te ao Māori and an ability to work in a way that supports whānau, mana and
connection is also valued.
A work laptop and phone will be assigned to you upon appointment to the role.
