WestREAP has been running these groups since 2015 when it became apparent there was a community demand for art classes for adults. The concept behind the setup was to create a learning space that encouraged people to engage with Art and the learning environment.
Art4Me Tutor Kate Buckley has a background in Adult Community Education in her homeland of Ireland. She is experienced in using Art as a creative medium to bring adults who have not had good educational experiences back into lifelong learning without the stress of a classroom, test or an academic outcome.
Participants can create any sort of artwork they wish to and the variety is endless. Both the Greymouth and Hokitika groups are warm, friendly, welcoming and supportive environments. Art4Me gives participants the space, opportunity, tutor support and materials to work on their own creative projects
Art4Me promotes inclusion and social contact across our communities. Each session includes kai and cups of tea or coffee. Both groups exhibit locally at their own annual exhibition and Art in the Park.
Materials are supplied and Kate can guide you on your project/s and your artistic learning journey. The groups run at the days and times listed below during school term time. The fee is $5-$10/session (pay what you can afford. Registrations are not required for Art4Me however due to demand bookings may be required for the Greymouth sessions.
