Supporting Parents Alongside Children's Education

Our trained facilitators, Tara Adams and Toni Simis, worked with parents of new infants at the Ross Playgroup for 30 weeks on this exciting new programme. This was our first SPACE course, and the programme is designed to walk alongside parents covering all the important infant topics on relevant child development and parenting such as:

Sleep
Feeding & play sessions,
Babies are introduced to rhymes, music and books
Time to get to meet and know other parents and share experiences.

Parents have given us encouraging feedback on the programme, saying they would like to see it run again for new mothers. Some comments from participants incude;

"we have made our treasure basket at home with similar resources as the SPACE treasure basket."

"my child's first words were from the da, da, da, da, mama, ma, ma SPACE song sung every week"

We are currently working with Belinda Conn from the Buller West Coast Playcentre Association to organise the next SPACE programme.
